Interview With Stars
Nivin Pauly – The Promising Actor

There is lot to talk about Nivin Pauly, the budding actor of Malayalam film industry. With a handful of hits like 1983, Om Shanthi Oshana, Oru Vadakkan Selfie, Premam etc Nivin has now proved himself to be a promising actor in Mollywood. Nivin is a person who has risked his career and life to catch up his dreams. He left his software job to create his own space in the Malayalam movie industry.

Born in a Nasrani family in Ernakulam on October 11, 1984, Nivin completed his B Tech in 2006 from Federal Institute of Science and Technology in Kochi and got placed in Infosys. Nivin got married to Rinna Joy, his college mate in 2010 and they have a son.

The year 2010 was a milestone in his life when Vineeth Sreenivasan decided to direct his debut movie 'Malarvadi Arts Club'. The film was a huge success and also the angry young man, Prakashan too.

After Malarvadi Arts Club, Nivin didn’t have many huge hits in his name. He did small roles in films like Traffic and Spanish Masala. Movies like Sevens and Metro didn’t do well at box office. But the release of Vineeth Sreenivasan’s ‘Thattathin Marayathu’ in 2012 was a turning point in Nivin’s life. The film was a huge box office hit and the movie lovers were surprised to see Nivin in his new look. That year’s Asianet film award for best star pair was for him and Isha Talwar for this movie.

Year 2012 was quiet a lucky year for Nivin. Kerala strikers, the cricket team of Amma (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) joined the Celebrity Cricket League on the same year. Nivin was also a part of the team and his performance as a cricketer was well acclaimed.

In 2012 he got casted in Sathyan Anthikaad’s movie ‘Puthiya Theerangal’, Bhoopadathil Illatha Oruvan, Chapters and Da Thadiya. Nivin was never ready to typecast himself. That may be the reason for him to choose Rahul Vaidyar, a character with a negative shade in Ashiq Abu’s Da Thadiya. He had a different look in that movie.

The release of the song ‘Nenjodu Cherthu’ from the album Yuvvh in 2012 was another milestone in Nivin’s life. The song became a huge hit in youtube making Nivin and Nazriya, the best on-screen pairs. This chemistry between the two was one of the reasons behind the making of the film ‘Neram’ in 2013, which turned to be a huge success and they were named as the best star pair in Vanita 2013 film awards. The same year he got a chance to be a part of Shyamaprasad’s movie English. His roles in Anju Sundarikal and Arikil Oraal were highly praised.

Nivin didn’t have to look back again. The two huge hits of 2014 – 1983 and Om Shanthi Oshana (OSO) was safe in his hands. 1983 was not an easy task for him. There was a great risk in handling a character which has different traits – from a teenager to a middle aged man. Though a female oriented movie, the character Giri of Nivin Pauly in OSO was quiet interesting. His other releases were Bangalore Days and Vikramadithyan.

The year 2015 was also with Nivin. All his movies were warmly welcomed by the movie lovers. Rajesh Pillai's 'Mili' was his first release. 'Mili' was a Amala Paul movie. The director was not wrong in selecting Nivin as 'Naveen' in 'Mili'. 'Oru Vadkkan Selfie' was another hit in his career. His rejoining with the 'Malarvadi team' was another peculiarity of this movie.

Nivin's career graph is getting into new heights. The release of 'Premam' and Ivide' proves this fact. Nivin again proved to handle different roles easily and brilliantly with these two movies. 'Ivide' with Shyamaprasad was one of the milestone in his career. The slightly negative but good heart 'Krish Herbar' will lure you definitely. 'Premam' on the other hand can be considered as one of the blockbusters of 2015. 'George' is now the new hero among the youth. He is romantic, bold and sentimental.

With Nivin Pauly, mollywood has got yet another actor who always tries to be a part of good movies. That may be the reason behind his achievements and that will lead him to success. His upcoming movies are Abrid Shine's 'Action Hero Biju, Motorcycle Diaries and Amar Chitra Gadha.
