The original name of Meera Jasmine is Jasmine. She was born on 15th February 1983 in Kuttappuzha, Thiruvalla to Joseph Philip and Aleyamma. She completed her schooling in Mar Thoma Residential School in Thiruvalla. She currently resides in Panampilly Nagar in Cochin. She made her debut in Malayalam movie Soothradharan starring Dileep with her but made herself a leading actress through the phenomenal success of her first Tamil movie, Run. This was followed by critically acclaimed performances in Padam Onnu Oru Vilapam directed by TV Chandran, her national-award winning Malayalam movie, She also acted in Mani Ratnam's Ayutha Ezhuthu, the Tamil version. Her Telugu debut movie is Ammayi Bagundi. She is currently working on more Tamil and Telugu movies.
